VICRYL™ PLUS Violet USP 2-0 (VCP317H) is manufactured from polyglactin 910 and coated with triclosan, providing broad-spectrum antibacterial activity against common surgical-site pathogens. This antibacterial coating helps inhibit bacterial colonisation of the suture, supporting a reduced risk of surgical site infection compared with standard braided sutures.

As a standard absorbable VICRYL™ suture (not RAPIDE), it typically retains approximately 50% tensile strength at 2–3 weeks, with complete absorption occurring within 56–70 days. This predictable absorption profile makes it suitable for procedures requiring dependable wound support throughout the critical healing phase.

The USP 2-0 size provides increased tensile strength for moderate-tension closures, making it ideal for muscle, fascia, and deeper soft tissue layers. The violet colour enhances visibility in deeper operative fields, while the braided construction ensures excellent handling and reliable knot security.

Supplied with a 26 mm Taperpoint Plus needle (1/2 circle), this configuration offers a refined needle geometry that delivers smooth, atraumatic passage through soft tissue while maintaining excellent control and penetration efficiency.
