Description

VICRYL™ Undyed USP 5-0 (W9824) is a high-quality absorbable suture manufactured from polyglactin 910, offering predictable absorption, excellent handling characteristics, and reliable knot security. Unlike VICRYL RAPIDE™, standard VICRYL™ provides longer-lasting tensile strength, making it suitable for procedures requiring extended wound support during healing.

VICRYL™ typically retains approximately 50% tensile strength at 2–3 weeks, with complete absorption occurring within 56–70 days. This controlled absorption profile makes it a preferred choice for internal soft tissue approximation and fine closures where prolonged support is beneficial.

The USP 5-0 size is well suited for delicate tissue handling and precise approximation. The undyed braided construction supports excellent visibility control and knot security while minimising tissue trauma. Supplied with a 17 mm tapercut needle (3/8 circle), this configuration combines a tapered body with a cutting tip—allowing smooth tissue penetration with reduced drag and controlled cutting through tougher tissue layers when required.

Individually sterile packed, VICRYL™ W9824 delivers consistent, trusted performance manufactured by Ethicon (Johnson & Johnson) for routine veterinary and medical surgical applications.
