VICRYL™ Violet USP 4-0 (W9471) is manufactured from polyglactin 910, offering predictable absorption, secure knot placement, and consistent handling characteristics. As a standard absorbable VICRYL™ suture (not RAPIDE), it provides longer tensile strength retention, making it suitable for procedures requiring sustained wound support during the healing phase.

VICRYL™ typically retains approximately 50% tensile strength at 2–3 weeks, with complete absorption occurring within 56–70 days. This controlled absorption profile makes it well suited to routine skin, mucosal, and soft tissue closure in veterinary and medical applications.

The USP 4-0 size balances strength and precision, making it suitable for a wide range of general surgical procedures. The violet colouring enhances visibility against tissue, aiding accurate placement and reducing handling errors.
