Description

MONOCRYL™ Undyed USP 4-0 (W9437) is manufactured from poliglecaprone 25, a synthetic monofilament absorbable material engineered to provide reliable short- to medium-term wound support with minimal tissue reaction. Its monofilament construction enables smooth tissue passage, reduced drag, and a lower risk of bacterial harbourage compared to braided sutures—making it particularly suitable for skin and superficial soft tissue closure.

MONOCRYL™ retains approximately 50–60% tensile strength at 7 days and 20–30% at 14 days, with absorption essentially complete within 90–120 days. This controlled absorption profile supports secure wound approximation during the critical early healing phase while minimising long-term foreign material.

The undyed suture reduces tissue marking and supports improved cosmetic outcomes, especially in visible or delicate areas. Supplied with a 16 mm Reverse Cutting Prime needle with a compound curve, this configuration is optimised for skin closure, providing precise penetration, excellent control, and reduced risk of tissue cut-out.

Individually sterile packed, MONOCRYL™ W9437 delivers consistent, trusted performance manufactured by Ethicon (Johnson & Johnson) for veterinary and medical wound closure.
