MONOCRYL™ Undyed USP 5-0 (W9436) is manufactured from poliglecaprone 25, a synthetic monofilament absorbable material engineered to provide reliable short- to medium-term wound support with minimal tissue reaction. Its monofilament construction allows smooth passage through tissue, reduced drag, and a lower risk of bacterial harbourage compared to braided sutures—making it particularly suitable for fine skin closure and superficial soft tissue approximation.

MONOCRYL™ typically retains approximately 50–60% tensile strength at 7 days and 20–30% at 14 days, with absorption essentially complete within 90–120 days. This controlled absorption profile supports secure wound approximation during the critical early healing phase while gradually reducing foreign material presence.

The USP 5-0 suture size is optimised for delicate tissue handling and improved cosmetic outcomes. The undyed suture material minimises tissue marking and supports clean, precise closure. Supplied with a 16 mm Reverse Cutting Prime needle with a compound curve, this configuration offers excellent control and access in confined or delicate operative fields, with reduced risk of tissue cut-out during skin closure.
