VICRYL™ PLUS Violet USP 4-0 (VCP9074H) is manufactured from polyglactin 910 and coated with triclosan, providing broad-spectrum antibacterial activity against common surgical site pathogens. This antibacterial coating helps inhibit bacterial colonisation on the suture, supporting a reduced risk of surgical site infection compared with standard braided sutures.

As a standard absorbable VICRYL™ suture (not RAPIDE), it typically retains approximately 50% tensile strength at 2–3 weeks, with complete absorption occurring within 56–70 days. This predictable absorption profile makes it suitable for procedures requiring reliable wound support throughout the early and mid-stages of healing.

The USP 4-0 size is ideal for finer soft tissue approximation where precision and handling are critical. The violet colour enhances visibility within the surgical field, while the braided structure provides excellent handling and dependable knot security.

Supplied with a 17 mm Taperpoint Plus needle (3/8 circle), this configuration is optimised for atraumatic passage through soft tissue, minimising tissue damage while maintaining excellent control. It is particularly well suited to subcutaneous, muscular, and delicate soft tissue closure.
