VICRYL™ PLUS Violet USP 0 (VCP518H) is manufactured from polyglactin 910 and coated with triclosan, providing broad-spectrum antibacterial activity against common surgical-site pathogens. This antibacterial coating helps inhibit bacterial colonisation of the suture, supporting a reduced risk of surgical site infection compared with standard braided sutures.

As a standard absorbable VICRYL™ suture (not RAPIDE), it typically retains approximately 50% tensile strength at 2–3 weeks, with complete absorption occurring within 56–70 days. This predictable absorption profile makes it well suited to procedures requiring dependable wound support throughout the critical healing phase.

The USP 0 size offers substantial tensile strength for moderate- to high-tension closures, including muscle and fascial layers. The violet colour enhances visibility in deeper operative fields, while the braided construction ensures excellent handling and reliable knot security.

Supplied with a 36 mm tapercut needle (1/2 circle), this configuration allows smooth passage through soft tissue with controlled cutting through denser layers such as fascia. The 90 cm strand length provides extended reach, ideal for larger surgical fields or long closure runs.
